How to take

Adult dose

Administer 0.1mg (1 sheet) of Ramosetron Hydrochloride within 1 hour prior to the administration of anticancer agents (such as cisplatin) as a single dose. This medication should be placed on the tongue immediately after removing from the individual packaging and taken without water. However, the administration period of this drug for each cycle of chemotherapy should be within 5 days. Dosage may be adjusted according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should be used with caution when administered with other serotonergic drugs. Patients taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) should be administered this drug carefully. Serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur during treatment, so patients should be closely monitored. If symptoms such as difficulty breathing, itching, or facial flushing occur, drug administration should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be received. Additionally, side effects such as liver dysfunction, headache, drowsiness, or constipation may occur; if these symptoms arise, consultation with medical staff is necessary. This drug is taken orally and dissolves in the mouth, but since it is not absorbed through the oral mucosa, it is recommended to take it with sufficient saliva or water. It is primarily used to prevent severe nausea and vomiting caused by cancer treatment; if nausea and vomiting persist, alternative treatments should be considered. When taken with other serotonergic drugs, a serious side effect called serotonin syndrome may occur, so the patient's condition should be monitored closely. Since this drug is metabolized in the liver, taking it with certain medications may increase blood concentration and the risk of side effects, so caution is necessary. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been established due to lack of experience, so it is best not to administer it to children. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so it is important to closely monitor their condition when administered, and to discontinue treatment immediately if side effects occur. This drug can be taken without water as it dissolves in contact with saliva when placed on the tongue. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, and be cautious of transferring it to another container as it may cause accidents or degrade quality.
