Precautions

This medication is a powerful analgesic that acts on the central nervous system, and when taken with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol, it can cause severe respiratory depression, coma, or even death. Therefore, when used in conjunction with such medications, it should only be administered at the minimum dose and for the shortest necessary duration, with close monitoring of the patient's condition. This medication should not be administered to certain patient populations, such as individuals allergic to opioids, those with severe respiratory problems, patients with severe liver or kidney disease, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children under 18 years old. In addition, patients with genetic metabolic disorders such as galactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with heart disease or respiratory disease, liver or kidney dysfunction, elderly patients, and those with seizure disorders should be particularly cautious when taking this medication, requiring careful dosing adjustments and monitoring. Long-term use of this medication may lead to drug dependence or tolerance, and sudden discontinuation may result in withdrawal symptoms; thus, the dosage should be gradually reduced. This medication may cause constipation, and should not be administered in patients with severe constipation, taking preventive measures against constipation into account. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur while taking this medication, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. This medication is metabolized and excreted by the liver and kidneys, so patients with impaired liver or kidney function should use it cautiously with dose adjustments. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and it is not administered during delivery due to the risk of respiratory depression in newborns. In cases of overdose, severe respiratory depression, loss of consciousness, and hypotension may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment, and antidotes and respiratory support may be necessary. This medication has many drug interactions; caution is needed when used in conjunction with other medications, particularly central nervous system depressants, MAO inhibitors, certain antibiotics, and antidepressants, and careful monitoring of dosage and patient condition is required. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children has not been adequately established, thus it is not to be used in patients under 18 years old. Elderly patients typically have decreased bodily functions, increasing the risk of respiratory depression; therefore, they should start at a low dose and be administered cautiously. When using this medication, it must be taken according to the physician's instructions, and the dosage should not be changed or discontinued arbitrarily.
