Short-term relief of moderate pain (post-surgery) and fever.
This medication is used when there is a need to rapidly administer intravenously in cases of pain or high fever, especially when it is difficult to give medication by other routes. It is effective mainly for the short-term treatment of moderate pain, particularly post-operative pain. It is also used for the short-term treatment of fever. It effectively helps to manage pain and fever simply, thus aiding in the alleviation of the patient's symptoms.
For adults weighing over 50 kg, intravenously administer acetaminophen 1000 mg four times a day, with dosing intervals of at least 4 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4 g. For adults weighing less than 50 kg, administer acetaminophen at approximately 15 mg/kg (1.5 ml/kg) intravenously per dose, with dosing intervals of at least 4 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg/kg.
For children weighing 33 kg (approximately 11 years old) and above, administer acetaminophen at approximately 15 mg/kg (1.5 ml/kg) intravenously for each dose, with dosing intervals of at least 4 hours. Maximum per day
When administering this drug, care should be taken to not confuse milligrams with milliliters. Confusing the units can lead to overdose, resulting in severe toxicity or death. Once oral administration becomes possible, it is advisable to use appropriate analgesics immediately. This is recommended for the comfort and safety of the patient. To prevent overdose, always check if other medications already taken contain this drug's active ingredient. Duplicated dosing can increase the risk of liver damage. Exceeding the recommended dosage can cause severe liver damage. Symptoms of liver damage usually occur between 2 to 6 days after administration, so immediate treatment should be sought if abnormal symptoms appear. Patients with poor liver function or a history of liver disease should consult a physician before taking this medication, and those receiving high doses for an extended period should regularly undergo liver function tests. Individuals who consume large amounts of alcohol regularly should consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. The risk of liver damage can significantly increase when taken with alcohol. Very rarely, severe skin reactions can occur after taking this medication. If skin rashes or hypersensitivity reactions occur, immediately stop taking the medication and consult healthcare providers. Patients with allergic reactions to this medication or those with specific diseases, such as peptic ulcers, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, and heart failure should refrain from taking it. Certain patient groups, such as those with liver impairments, kidney impairments, peptic ulcers, blood disorders, bleeding tendencies, asthma, elderly patients, and pregnant or nursing women should exercise extra caution when using this medication and should take it according to a doctor's instructions. This medication can occasionally cause various side effects such as blood cell reduction, increased liver enzymes, kidney abnormalities, and skin rashes, so any abnormal symptoms should be promptly reported to a healthcare professional. Interactions may occur when this medication is combined with other drugs, so be sure to inform about any current medications being taken. Particular caution is needed when taken with certain anti-tuberculosis drugs, antidepressants, and anticoagulants. It does not affect driving or machine operation, but this medication should not be mixed with other medications. Children and elderly individuals should take the minimum dose and be observed closely. During pregnancy, this medication is not known to pose a significant risk to the fetus, but the benefits and risks need to be carefully evaluated before use. Nursing mothers can also use this medication, but they should monitor for any adverse reactions. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may experience delayed excretion of this medication, so dosing intervals should be extended. In cases of overdose, initial symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain, and in severe cases, it can lead to liver damage and coma, necessitating immediate hospital treatment. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, and refrigeration or freezing should also be avoided. Before use, check for foreign substances or discoloration, and any remaining solution should be discarded as it is for single use only.
