Treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, adjunct for partial seizures in epilepsy, relief of fibromyalgia
This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also effective as an adjunct for partial seizures in patients with epilepsy, regardless of whether secondary generalization is present. Additionally, it is applicable for the treatment of fibromyalgia, helping reduce pain in patients. It is used to improve symptoms of various nerve-related disorders.
This medication is administered orally twice a day, regardless of food, in a total daily dosage. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Initial dosage is 150 mg per day, which can be increased to 300 mg per day within 3 to 7 days, and if necessary, can be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg per day at intervals of 7 days. - Central neuropathic pain: Initial dosage is 150 mg per day, which can be increased to 300 mg per day after one week.
Safety and efficacy data are insufficient for children under 12 years and adolescents aged 12 to 17, hence administration is not recommended.
This medication can increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so patients experiencing symptoms of depression or mood changes during use must inform their healthcare provider immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or specific genetic lactose metabolism disorders should not take it. Diabetic patients should be cautious as weight gain may require adjustments to diabetes medication dosages. If signs of angioedema occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a healthcare provider should be consulted. Elderly patients may be at increased risk of falls due to dizziness or drowsiness, so special caution is advised during initial use. Visual disturbances or changes in vision may occur, and if symptoms persist, consideration should be given to discontinuing the medication. Withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety may occur upon discontinuation, so abrupt cessation should be avoided. Patients with a history of substance abuse should be cautious as the risk of misuse may be higher with this medication. Patients with decreased renal function may require dosage adjustments. Patients with severe heart disease should use caution while taking this medication. When used in conjunction with other medications that have central nervous system depressant effects, there may be a risk of respiratory depression, so caution is necessary. Pregnant women should not take this medication during early pregnancy due to the risk of fetal malformations, and women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception. Lactating women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication since it can be transferred into breast milk. Activities like driving or operating machinery should be done only after verifying whether this medication causes dizziness or drowsiness. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, and seizures may occur, and treatments such as hemodialysis may be necessary. Keep out of reach of children, and avoid transferring to other containers.
Hives, severe swelling, angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, severe skin reactions, asthma attacks, respiratory irregularities accompanied by cough and fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, liver dysfunction, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures.

This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly closed container. It is recommended to maintain a storage temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage can help maintain the medication's effectiveness for a longer duration.
