Treatment of infections in the respiratory tract (bronchitis, pneumonia) and urogenital system (cystitis, gonorrhea)
This medication is effective against various bacteria and is used for the treatment of multiple infectious diseases. It is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia, empyema, lung abscess, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media, as well as for urinary tract infections like cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis. It is also utilized for treating pelvic infections, gonorrhea, furuncles and abscesses, soft tissue infections, wound infections, osteomyelitis, and dental infections. This medicine is useful against various resistant bacteria, including beta-lactamase-producing strains, aiding in the treatment of diverse infections. Therefore, it is used to treat various kinds of infectious diseases.
For adults with severe infections and respiratory infections, take 2 tablets orally twice a day every 12 hours. In patients with renal impairment, the dosage may be reduced according to the degree of kidney function. In cases of severe kidney dysfunction (glomerular filtration rate less than 30 mL/min), this medication should not be administered.
This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients who are allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin medications. Special caution is required for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to a higher risk of rashes. Patients who have previously experienced jaundice or liver dysfunction from this medication or penicillin-class drugs should avoid taking it. Caution should be exercised for patients with poor liver function or severe kidney disease, as the drug concentration may increase. Patients with allergic tendencies or gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea may have difficulty absorbing the medication, so monitoring is necessary. During treatment, gastrointestinal adverse effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and in severe cases, serious side effects such as antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis may occur. Elevations in liver function test values or symptoms of hepatitis and jaundice may occur, so if abnormal symptoms arise, consultation with a doctor is essential. Skin rashes, itching, and in severe cases, serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, and medication should be discontinued if such symptoms arise. Abnormal blood test results such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia are rare. Central nervous system adverse effects such as anxiety, confusion, and seizures have been rarely reported, requiring caution in patients with poor kidney function or when taking high doses. Regular kidney function tests are needed, as worsening kidney function or acute kidney failure may occur. Antibiotic use may lead to fungal infections such as candidiasis and an increased risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. This medication should only be used for the necessary period to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and it is critical to inform before administration if there's a history of hypersensitivity to penicillin-class drugs. Serious allergic reactions like anaphylactic shock may occur rarely, so patient status should be closely monitored after administration. If symptoms of antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis occur, medication should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. There is a risk of overgrowth of resistant bacteria with prolonged use, requiring caution if used for more than 14 days. Patients with reduced liver and kidney function require dose adjustments and regular function tests. Avoid use during the first three months of pregnancy, and caution is advised while breastfeeding, as diarrhea or hypersensitivity may occur in infants. Not recommended for children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients should be treated cautiously due to an increased risk of side effects from reduced physiological function. This medication may affect certain test results, and it is important to inform the test personnel. Overdose may manifest with gastrointestinal symptoms and central nervous system disturbances, and immediate consultation with healthcare professionals for appropriate management is required. Store in a cool, dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and consult a doctor or pharmacist before using the medication.
