Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be used in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin or cephalosporins. Patients with a history of serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or shock may be at risk if they take this medication. Patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia may be at higher risk for developing rashes when taking this drug. Patients who previously experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this drug or penicillin should also avoid taking it due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with poor liver function or moderate to severe renal impairment may have increased drug concentrations, so dosage adjustment and careful observation are necessary. Patients with allergic tendencies or who frequently exhibit symptoms such as bronchial asthma, skin rashes, or urticaria should also use this with caution. Patients with gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea may have impaired absorption of the drug, so it is important to check the patient's condition prior to administration. This drug may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in rare cases may lead to serious issues such as pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis, thus if symptoms worsen, it is crucial to discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare provider. Liver function abnormalities can occur rarely, especially more frequently in the elderly or males, so regular liver function tests are necessary. Additionally, skin reactions such as rashes, itching, and in severe cases severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued immediately. Hematological adverse reactions such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia have been rarely reported, and regular blood tests are recommended. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, confusion, and seizures may occur rarely, especially in patients with poor kidney function or when taking high doses. This drug is excreted via the kidneys, so patients with reduced kidney function require dosage and administration interval adjustments, along with regular monitoring of kidney function. Long-term use may lead to the development of resistant bacteria, so it should be taken for the minimum duration advisable by a physician, and if used for more than 14 days, careful monitoring for side effects is necessary. It is advisable to avoid taking this medication during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, and while breastfeeding, if symptoms such as diarrhea or allergic reactions appear in the infant, discontinuation of use should be considered. This drug can interact with other medications, so especially if taking anticoagulants, probenecid, allopurinol, or disulfiram, it is crucial to consult with a physician or pharmacist. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, rash, renal failure, and seizures, and immediate medical attention is necessary. Storage should be in a sealed container to prevent moisture, and kept in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius to maintain its efficacy and prevent degradation.
