Treatment of respiratory and ear infections, urinary tract infections, and skin infections
This medicine is effective against various bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, influenza bacillus, and Escherichia coli. It is primarily used to treat respiratory infections such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, lobar pneumonia, and bronchitis. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, and prostatitis. Additionally, it is widely used for skin infections such as abscesses, soft tissue infections, boils, and impetigo. Finally, it can assist in the treatment of otitis media and is used to improve overall bacterial infections.
○ Adults 1) Skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections: Depending on severity, administer cefradine 250mg~500mg (potency) per dose 4 times daily or 500mg~1g (potency) twice daily by mouth. 2) Urinary tract infections: For uncomplicated urinary tract infections, administer 500mg (potency) per dose twice daily. For severe urinary tract infections, administer 500mg (potency) per dose 4 times daily or 1g (potency) per dose twice daily. Severe infections may also require a longer treatment period and intensive treatment. ○ Patients with renal impairment 1) For patients not receiving hemodialysis, administer as follows: Creatinine clearance (mL/min) | Dose (mg) | Dosing interval (hours) >20 | 500 | 6~12 15~20 | 250 | 12~24 10~14 | 250 | 24~40 5~9 | 250 | 40~50 <5 | 250 | 50~70 2) For patients receiving chronic, intermittent hemodialysis, administer an initial dose of 250mg (potency) when hemodialysis is started, followed by 250mg (potency) 6~12 hours later and again 36~48 hours later. Then administer 250mg at the next hemodialysis session (only if at least 30 hours have elapsed since the most recent dose). Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
○ Children Administer 25~50mg (potency) per Kg of body weight orally in 2~4 divided doses daily. For otitis media, administer 75~100mg (potency) per Kg of body weight in 2~4 divided doses daily. However, do not administer more than 4g (potency) per day or exceed the adult dose. It is preferable not to administer this medicine to infants aged 9 months or younger.
This drug should not be used in patients with a history of shock. Patients with a history of allergy to this drug or similar antibiotics must consult a physician before administration, and if it must be used, close observation is required. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics should also exercise caution. Patients with a family history of allergic symptoms such as bronchial asthma, skin rashes, and urticaria should use it cautiously. Patients with severely impaired kidney function should use this medication with special care, and regular monitoring may be required. Patients who have difficulty taking oral medication, those receiving non-oral nutrition, elderly individuals, and patients with poor overall health should be monitored closely for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. This drug contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, so patients who are allergic to or sensitive to it need to be cautious. If symptoms such as malaise, oral abnormalities, wheezing, dizziness, diarrhea, tinnitus, or sweating occur during administration, treatment should be stopped immediately and appropriate care should be sought. If allergic reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, itching, fever, lymphadenopathy, or joint pain occur, administration should be discontinued. Blood tests may reveal granulocytopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia, requiring regular monitoring. Severe skin rashes or rare side effects such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome have also been reported, so caution is advised. Abnormal liver function may rarely occur, necessitating liver function tests. Kidney function may deteriorate rapidly, so frequent monitoring of kidney status is required. Oral infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis may occur. Symptoms of vitamin K and B deficiency may arise, so any tendency to bleed, stomatitis, or loss of appetite should be watched closely. Headaches, general malaise, abdominal discomfort, and other various symptoms may occur rarely. While using this medication, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility tests to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and to administer the drug for the minimal necessary duration. It is recommended that thorough consultation and skin test be performed beforehand to prevent acute shock reactions. During administration, it is essential to prepare for emergencies and to observe the patient in a stable condition. Caution should be exercised when administered concurrently with diuretics or aminoglycoside antibiotics due to the risk of worsening kidney function. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks at the discretion of a physician, and caution should also be exercised while breastfeeding. It is preferable not to administer to premature infants and newborns, especially infants under 9 months of age. Elderly individuals may experience abnormal reactions due to decreased physical function, so the dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted, and close monitoring should be performed.
