Treatment of respiratory and urinary tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, cystitis, etc.)
This medication is used to treat various infectious diseases caused by different bacteria. It is effective for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia, empyema, pulmonary abscess, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also applicable for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as pelvic infections and gonorrhea. Furthermore, it is used for skin and soft tissue infections such as boils, abscesses, soft tissue infections, wound infections, osteomyelitis, and dental infections. Thus, it is widely used for the treatment of various bacterial infections, aiding in the recovery of patients' health.
For recurrent tonsillitis and similar upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and mild to moderate skin and soft tissue infections, the dose is 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg body weight per day, divided into two doses. For severe infections like otitis media, sinusitis (upper respiratory infections), bronchopneumonia (lower respiratory infections), and urinary tract infections, the dose is 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg body weight per day.
The 7:1 syrup is not suitable for those under 2 months of age and is not suitable for pediatric patients with renal failure. The dosage is the same as for adults: 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg body weight per day or 45 mg/6.4 mg.
This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener, and should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder. It should also not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication's ingredients or beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphoblastic leukemia, patients with a history of liver dysfunction, and those with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance. Caution is advised for patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, patients with a history of allergies, patients who have difficulty swallowing orally, elderly patients, and those with gastrointestinal diseases, as symptoms like vitamin K deficiency, diarrhea, and vomiting may occur. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting may occur, and in severe cases, serious colitis like pseudomembranous colitis may develop; if symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Liver function abnormalities may also manifest, so especially in elderly patients or those taking the medication long-term, routine liver function tests are recommended. Allergic reactions can result in skin rashes, itching, and in severe cases, serious skin conditions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome; if such symptoms occur, stop using the medication immediately. Rarely, abnormalities such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia may appear in blood tests, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a physician. Neurological disorders such as anxiety, drowsiness, headaches, and rarely seizures may occur, requiring caution. Pregnant women are advised not to use this medication especially during the first three months of pregnancy, and nursing mothers should be vigilant about adverse reactions in infants. Children, particularly newborns under 2 months, should not use this medication as safety has not been established. Elderly patients may experience abnormal reactions more easily due to reduced kidney and liver function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted with caution. This medication may interact with other drugs; if taking other medications, inform the physician or pharmacist, especially when combined with anticoagulants or specific antibiotics. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, acute renal failure, and hypersensitivity shock may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a refrigerator after preparation and used within 7 days, and it is important to shake well before use.
