Precautions

This medication is a penicillin-class antibiotic and should not be used in patients who are allergic to this component or penicillin-type antibiotics. Caution is required when administering this medication to patients who are allergic to cephalosporins. Use should be avoided in patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis due to an increased risk of rash. Additionally, it contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic issues. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases or allergic conditions, severely impaired kidney function, and the elderly should use this medication with extra caution. In particular, for those with kidney impairment, the dosing interval should be adjusted, and due to the risk of bleeding caused by vitamin K deficiency, careful monitoring of the patient's condition is necessary. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may develop, so if symptoms are severe, medication should be discontinued immediately. Serious allergic reactions such as hives, angioedema, or anaphylactic shock may occur, so if such symptoms arise, medication use must be stopped immediately and emergency treatment sought. Various abnormal reactions such as renal dysfunction, blood disorders, skin rashes, and liver dysfunction have been reported, hence regular examinations and monitoring are necessary. In long-term use, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and use the drug only for the necessary minimum duration. There is a potential for drug interactions, particularly when used in combination with methotrexate, probenecid, allopurinol, or oral contraceptives, so caution should be exercised. During pregnancy, the risk to the fetus is low, but it should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks, and during breastfeeding, careful administration is needed considering the potential for side effects in infants. Children, especially newborns and infants under 6 months, require caution due to incomplete kidney function, and the elderly should be monitored closely due to an increased risk of adverse effects from declining bodily functions. In cases of overdose, neurological symptoms or renal failure may occur, requiring immediate assistance from medical professionals, and if necessary, blood dialysis may be used to remove the drug. When this drug is used in conjunction with other antibiotics or medications, dosage and timing should be adjusted considering the potential for drug interactions.
