This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It also serves as an adjunctive therapy for patients with epilepsy experiencing partial seizures. How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken orally in two divided doses per day, with or without food. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Initial dose may be 150 mg per day; after 3-7 days, it may be increased to 300 mg per day, and if necessary, it can be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg daily at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Initial dose may be 150 mg per day; after one week, it can be increased to 300 mg daily.

Child dose

Use is not recommended for children under 12 years of age and adolescents between 12-17 years due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so any changes in mood or behavior should be carefully monitored during treatment. Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredients in this medication, and patients with certain genetic conditions like lactose intolerance should also avoid it. Diabetic patients may need to adjust the dosage of their blood sugar-lowering medications due to weight gain after using this medication. If symptoms of angioedema such as swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue use immediately. Patients with heart disease or congestive heart failure should use this medication cautiously. Using this medication in conjunction with opioid analgesics may enhance CNS depressant effects, leading to risks such as difficulty breathing. Pregnant women should avoid this medication during early pregnancy due to the risk of fetal malformations, and women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking this medication, as it may transfer to breast milk and affect the baby. It is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating dangerous machinery, until dizziness or drowsiness has subsided after taking this medication.
