This medication can effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy using telmisartan or amlodipine. Such treatment helps to maintain stable blood pressure, reduce cardiovascular risk, and support overall health. In other words, this medication is used to improve blood pressure control in essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning) For patients with renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is needed for mild to moderate renal impairment, but patients with severe renal impairment should start with a lower dose and increase it gradually. For patients with liver impairment: The daily dose of telmisartan for mild or moderate liver impairment should not exceed 40 mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by pregnant women, especially during the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain conditions, such as those allergic to this drug or its active ingredients, pregnant women, nursing mothers, patients with severe liver dysfunction, or those with severe heart diseases. Additionally, patients with primary aldosteronism, valvular heart disease, liver dysfunction, gastrointestinal diseases, renal artery stenosis, renal failure, elderly patients, etc., should use this medication with extreme caution. Common side effects may include dizziness, peripheral edema, and hypotension, while serious side effects have been reported rarely. Therefore, any unusual symptoms should be discussed with healthcare providers immediately. During pregnancy, the use of this medication may be risky for the fetus, so if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately and switched to a safer alternative. As this medication lowers blood pressure, patients at risk of hypotension should consult a physician before taking it and monitor blood pressure and symptoms carefully during treatment. As potassium levels may increase in the blood, patients with reduced kidney function or heart failure should regularly check potassium levels through blood tests. This medication can affect kidney function, so patients with kidney disorders should have their kidney function monitored through blood tests while taking it. Particularly, patients with myocardial infarction or angina may experience worsening symptoms with this medication, so caution is required. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness while driving or operating machinery; therefore, caution is necessary during treatment. There may be interactions with other drugs, so if you are currently taking other medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. This medication is not recommended for nursing women; therefore, nursing should be avoided. It is not recommended for pediatric patients due to insufficient proof of safety and efficacy. In cases of overdose, hypotension, tachycardia, dizziness, and in severe cases, shock may occur, requiring immediate treatment from medical facilities.
