Improvement of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, etc.)
This medication is used for conditions such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, post-surgical anastomotic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also effective in improving gastric mucosal lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling that occur during acute exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis. This drug helps protect and restore the gastric mucosa, alleviating symptoms and aiding treatment. Thus, it is beneficial for improving discomfort due to gastrointestinal disorders.
As cimetidine, administer 400 mg orally twice a day (morning and at bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). Additionally, 300 mg may be taken orally four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dosage may be increased up to 1.6 g per day (400 mg four times a day after meals and at bedtime). For acute gastritis and acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis, administer 200 mg orally twice a day or 400 mg once a day.
Administer 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight divided by oral administration daily.
This medication is made with the ingredient cimetidine, which suppresses gastric acid secretion and is used for the treatment of peptic ulcers and gastritis. This drug should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to cimetidine or other components. Additionally, patients taking dofetilide, which can increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias, should not be administered this medication. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, a history of drug allergies, elderly patients, children under 19 years of age, and patients undergoing hemodialysis should use this medication with caution. Especially in cases of renal impairment, drug concentrations may increase, necessitating dosage reduction or an extension of the administration interval. Using this medication may rarely result in side effects such as decreased blood cell counts, liver dysfunction, kidney issues, allergic reactions, gynecomastia, digestive disturbances, neurological symptoms, heart rhythm abnormalities, and skin rashes. If any of these symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a physician is necessary. Patients should closely monitor their condition during medication, and if there is no effect or if side effects are severe, other treatment options can be considered. Elderly patients or those with chronic conditions should be particularly cautious as there may be an increased risk of infections such as pneumonia. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are taking warfarin, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, or diabetes medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Pregnant women or those who could become pregnant should only use this medication when absolutely necessary as its safety is not assured, and breastfeeding mothers should discontinue nursing since this medication may pass into breast milk. Children and elderly individuals may experience higher drug concentrations due to decreased kidney function, requiring dosage adjustments and changes to the administration intervals. In the case of an overdose, severe symptoms such as respiratory depression may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to another container for safety.
