This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as an adjunct for partial seizures in epilepsy patients, regardless of the presence of secondary generalized symptoms. Furthermore, it is used to help alleviate symptoms in fibromyalgia patients. It is effective for improving symptoms of neuralgia, seizures, and myalgia.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken orally, divided into two doses per day, regardless of meals. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Starting dose of 150 mg daily, may be increased to 300 mg daily after 3 to 7 days, and if necessary, increased to a maximum of 600 mg daily at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Starting dose of 150 mg daily, may be increased to 300 mg daily after 1 week.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so any signs of depression or mood changes during treatment should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. Patients with allergies to this medication or who are sensitive to ingredients such as Yellow No. 5 or lactose should not take it. Diabetic patients should be cautious as weight gain may require adjustments in blood sugar control medication doses. If symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face or around the mouth, occur, the medication should be stopped immediately. Elderly patients should be especially careful at the beginning of treatment due to the risk of dizziness or drowsiness and potential falls.
