Precautions

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and caution is required as serious side effects may occur. It may cause serious adverse reactions such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system disturbances, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis. If any of these symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. It should not be used in patients with myasthenia gravis due to the risk of symptom exacerbation. This medication is recommended to be used only when there are no other treatment options for specific bacterial infections, and the risk of tendon rupture increases in the elderly, those with renal impairment, or when used in combination with corticosteroids. It should not be used with corticosteroids, and if symptoms of tendonitis or tendon rupture occur, use should be discontinued immediately and rest taken. This medication may increase the risk of seizures, so it should be used cautiously in patients with central nervous system disorders or a seizure history. Caution is also needed when used in combination with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or theophylline due to the risk of increased seizures. Serious reactions such as skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, and anaphylaxis may occur due to hypersensitivity; therefore, discontinue use immediately if any adverse symptoms develop. Additionally, photosensitivity reactions may occur, so strong sunlight and artificial UV exposure should be avoided. During the use of this medication, dizziness, drowsiness, and visual disturbances may occur, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Diabetic patients taking blood glucose control medications should frequently check blood glucose levels as fluctuations may occur, and consult a doctor if there are any anomalies. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, or adolescents in their growth phase should not use this medication. In the case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and cardiac electrical abnormalities may occur, so immediate and appropriate medical treatment is required. This medication may interact with various drugs; therefore, patients should inform their healthcare provider of any other medications they are taking and seek advice. If any adverse symptoms arise while taking this medication, it is crucial to consult with a doctor or pharmacist to take appropriate action.
