This medication helps relieve neuropathic pain in peripheral and central nerves in adult patients. Additionally, it is used as an adjunct in patients with epilepsy, particularly for those with partial seizures, assisting in symptom control. It is also effective in alleviating pain in patients with fibromyalgia. As such, it is widely used in the treatment of various neurological disorders.
This medication is taken orally in divided doses of the total daily dosage twice a day, regardless of food intake. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: The starting dose is 150 mg once daily; the dosage can be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, and if necessary, can be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg per day at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: The starting dose is 150 mg once daily; after 1 week, it can be increased to 300 mg.
The safety and efficacy data are insufficient for pediatric patients under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, so administration is not recommended.
This drug may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so if mood changes or abnormal behaviors occur during treatment, consult a physician immediately. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication. Patients with diabetes should be cautious as weight gain may necessitate adjustments in blood sugar control medications. If swelling occurs in the face or neck, stop taking this medication immediately and inform your healthcare provider.
