Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with symptoms of urinary retention, severe gastrointestinal problems, myasthenia gravis, narrow-angle glaucoma, allergies to this drug or its components, patients undergoing dialysis, severe hepatic impairment, or severe renal impairment who are taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Caution should be exercised when using this drug in patients at risk of urinary retention or with reduced gastrointestinal function, patients with moderate or severe renal or hepatic impairment, patients on certain medications concurrently, and patients with autonomic neuropathy. Common side effects may include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, and dry eyes; dry mouth and constipation occur more frequently with higher doses. Serious side effects such as bowel obstruction, angioedema, vascular swelling, and anaphylaxis have been reported; if any unusual symptoms appear, immediate medical attention is required. Patients with QT prolongation syndrome or hyperkalemia are at risk of cardiac arrhythmias and should be monitored. This drug may affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, so caution is warranted. Taking this medication in combination with other anticholinergic drugs may enhance effects or exacerbate side effects, while the efficacy of drugs that increase gastrointestinal motility may be diminished. This drug is mainly metabolized by the liver, so dosage adjustments are necessary when taken with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, and patients with poor renal or hepatic function should avoid co-administration. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, and it should be used with caution in pregnant women. Breastfeeding women are advised to avoid using this drug. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established, so this medication should not be used in children. In the case of overdose, appropriate treatment such as administering activated charcoal is necessary without inducing vomiting, and specialized treatment is required for severe central nervous system symptoms or cardiac issues.
