Precautions

This medication works by binding to specific proteins and disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell death. Do not administer this medication to patients who have experienced allergic reactions or shock from this drug or similar classes of antibiotics in the past. Since it contains lactose, it should not be used in patients with genetic issues like galactose intolerance, lactose deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be exercised when using in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or in those with a family history of allergic diseases such as asthma or hives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty with oral ingestion, elderly patients, and those in poor general health should be carefully monitored when administered this medication, as there may be a risk of vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, especially colitis, should also take caution. This medication can rarely cause serious allergic reactions, skin disorders, blood abnormalities, liver or kidney dysfunction, gastrointestinal problems, respiratory issues, central nervous system symptoms, and vitamin deficiency symptoms. If any abnormal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. To prevent the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it is advisable to use this medication for the minimum duration after susceptibility testing. Furthermore, prior to taking this medication, a thorough review of allergy history is necessary, and the potential for infection caused by resistant bacteria should also be considered. There may be interactions when co-administering with other medications, particularly with probenecid, drugs affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, and bacteriostatic antibiotics. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the benefits and risks before use, and caution is also needed for nursing mothers. Safety has not been established for newborns less than one month old, so use is not recommended. Elderly individuals are at an increased risk for adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions and bleeding risks from vitamin K deficiency; therefore, dosage and intervals should be adjusted and closely monitored. Finally, this medication may affect test results, so caution is necessary during urine or blood tests.
