This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults and can also be used as an adjunct for partial seizures accompanied or not accompanied by secondary general symptoms in epilepsy patients. It is also effective for the treatment of fibromyalgia. In summary, this medication is used for treating neuropathic pain, epilepsy-related partial seizures, and fibromyalgia.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken orally twice daily, irrespective of food intake, with a total daily dosage split. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Starting dose is 150 mg per day, increasing to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, with a maximum increase to 600 mg per day as needed at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Starting dose is 150 mg per day, increasing to 300 mg per day after 1 week.

Child dose

Administration is not recommended for children under 12 years old and adolescents aged 12-17 due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior; therefore, if mood changes or depressive symptoms occur during treatment, consult a doctor immediately. This medication should not be taken if there is a hypersensitivity to it or if certain genetic diseases such as lactose intolerance exist. Patients with diabetes should be cautious as weight gain may occur after taking this medication, which may require monitoring of blood sugar levels.
