Precautions

This drug works by binding to certain proteins and disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, killing the bacteria. It should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication. Patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics or this drug should also avoid its administration. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics, those with allergic tendencies, severe renal impairment, patients who have difficulty taking medications orally, or the elderly should be administered with caution. Especially, symptoms of vitamin K deficiency may occur, so these patients should be closely monitored. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, especially those with a history of colitis, also require caution. Rarely, symptoms such as shock, severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, blood abnormalities, liver or kidney function abnormalities, gastrointestinal disturbances, respiratory issues, and central nervous system abnormalities may appear, requiring immediate cessation of administration and appropriate treatment if symptoms arise. When using this medication, it is advisable to perform sensitivity testing to prevent the development of resistant bacteria and to administer it for the minimum necessary period. Additionally, there may be drug interactions when used in conjunction with other antibiotics, so caution is required, especially when using it together with drugs that can affect kidney function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only if its benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established, and nursing mothers should also use it with caution. Safety in neonates under one month has not been confirmed. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more easily due to reduced physiological function, thus careful monitoring of dosage and administration intervals is necessary. This drug may affect certain clinical tests such as urine glucose tests or direct Coombs tests, so caution is needed in interpreting test results.
