Relief of symptoms of functional dyspepsia (e.g., abdominal bloating, upper abdominal pain, and nausea)
This medication is used to alleviate gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal bloating, epigastric pain, loss of appetite, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting caused by functional dyspepsia.
○ Adults: Administer 50 mg of itopride hydrochloride orally 3 times daily before meals. Reduce the dose appropriately according to symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components. It should also not be administered to patients with conditions where gastrointestinal stimulation can be harmful, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical bowel obstruction, or perforation. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be used in patients with metabolic disorders such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur during treatment, so if symptoms such as low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, or hives appear, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Liver dysfunction or jaundice may occur, so liver function tests (AST, ALT, γ-GTP, etc.) should be monitored regularly; if abnormalities are found, drug use should be stopped. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, increased salivation, or neurological symptoms such as headache, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and dizziness may occur. Gynecomastia or increased prolactin levels may occur, and if these symptoms appear, drug administration should be discontinued and appropriate action taken. Blood abnormalities such as thrombocytopenia or leukopenia may occur, necessitating regular blood tests to monitor condition. Kidney function indicators such as BUN and creatinine levels may increase, so kidney function monitoring is also necessary. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes, redness, itching, or extrapyramidal symptoms like tremors may occur, which require discontinuation of the medication if such symptoms appear. This medication enhances the action of acetylcholine; thus, it should be used with this consideration, and should not be used long-term if gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve. Caution is needed regarding concomitant use with anticholinergics, as the effect of this medication may be reduced, requiring adjustment of the dosing schedule. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. During breastfeeding, this medication may be excreted in breast milk, so it is preferable to avoid use or discontinue breastfeeding if possible. Safety in children has not been adequately established, so it should be used with caution. Elderly patients may experience more adverse reactions due to decreased bodily function, hence symptoms should be closely monitored, and dose adjustment or discontinuation may be necessary. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers, as this poses a risk of accidents and quality degradation.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
