This medication is used to treat various bacterial infections. It is particularly effective for respiratory infections except acute bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and ear, nose, throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, etc.). It is also used to treat bacterial prostatitis, acute simple cystitis, acute pyelonephritis, and complicated urinary tract infections. Additionally, it is indicated for gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, biliary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gynecological infections, peritonitis, fistulitis, sebaceous cysts, and tendinitis. However, fluoroquinolone antibiotics carry a risk of serious side effects and should only be used when there are no other treatment options for conditions such as acute rhinosinusitis, exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, or uncomplicated urinary tract infections. Overall, this medication is useful for treating various bacterial infections.

How to take

Precautions

This medication may cause serious side effects such as tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system effects. If any of these symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Patients with myasthenia gravis should not use this medication as it may worsen symptoms. Carefully consider use in specific infections such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. Elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function, and patients with central nervous system disorders should exercise caution when using this medication, as there is a risk of seizures or neurological side effects. This drug should not be administered to pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, adolescents under 18, patients with epilepsy, or those with a history of allergy to this drug or past tendonitis or tendon rupture. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking any medications, you must inform your physician or pharmacist, particularly regarding the use of theophylline, tizanidine, ketoprofen, warfarin, or antidiabetic medications. If rashes, itching, breathing difficulties, severe muscle pain, vision problems, severe abdominal pain, blood in stool, or psychiatric symptoms occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a medical professional. During the course of treatment, avoid direct sunlight or UV exposure, and consult a professional if you experience sensory abnormalities or neuropathy symptoms.
