Precautions

This medication is a cephalosporin antibiotic and should not be used in patients with a known allergy to cephalosporins. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with allergic disposition, patients with severe renal impairment, patients who have difficulty in oral intake, and the elderly should be administered with caution. This medication can cause various side effects such as candidiasis, blood abnormalities, skin rashes, headaches, dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances, so symptoms should be closely monitored. Although rare, serious skin reactions, hepatitis, decreased renal function, and pseudomembranous colitis may occur; if any unusual symptoms occur, medical personnel should be notified immediately. To prevent the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it is important to confirm the sensitivity of the infection-causing bacteria and use it for the necessary duration only. Shock symptoms or allergic reactions may occur during administration, so the patient’s condition should be meticulously observed and administration should be stopped immediately if any adverse effects appear. Like other antibiotics, there is a risk of disrupting intestinal flora, leading to candidiasis or Clostridium difficile infections, so caution is needed. This medication can cause dizziness; caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Women who are pregnant or nursing should consult a physician before administering this medication and should use it cautiously only if necessary. Safety has not been established for infants under 3 months, and syrup formulations are recommended for children due to the bitter taste. In the elderly, due to decreased renal function and vitamin K deficiency leading to bleeding tendencies, dosage and intervals must be adjusted, and careful observation is necessary. This medication may affect blood and urine test results, so this should be considered during testing. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as seizures or encephalopathy may occur, and the drug concentration can be lowered through hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent quality deterioration and misuse.
