Treatment of acute and chronic bronchitis and pneumonia (respiratory infections) and urinary tract infections
This medication is effective in treating various bacterial infections. It is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia, empyema, lung abscess, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It also helps treat urinary infections such as cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, and pelvic infections, as well as sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. It is effective in treating skin abscesses and boils, soft tissue infections, wound infections, and osteomyelitis, and is used in dental infection management. It acts broadly on various types of bacteria to improve various symptoms of infection.
Adults and children aged 12 and over or those weighing over 40 kg should take Amoxicillin/Clavulanate Potassium at a dose of 1 tablet containing 250 mg/125 mg, taken orally three times a day every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose may be increased to 1 tablet containing 500 mg/125 mg. In cases of renal impairment, dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance. - Creatinine clearance of 10 to 30 mL/min: Take 1 tablet containing 250 to 500 mg of amoxicillin every 12 hours. - Under 10 mL/min: Take 1 tablet containing 250 mg of amoxicillin every 24 hours, ensuring that the dosage does not exceed limits. - For children: Dose is adjusted similarly.
Children aged 12 and older or those weighing over 40 kg should follow the same regimen as adults. In children with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted similarly.
This drug can be dangerous if administered to patients with hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics or those who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions. Patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at higher risk of side effects such as rashes and require caution. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of liver injury due to this drug or penicillin-class drugs should use it cautiously due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment may require adjustments to the dosing interval, as the drug may remain in the body longer. Patients with a history of allergies or conditions like bronchial asthma or urticaria are at a higher risk for adverse reactions and should be cautious. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the medication properly, necessitating careful use. During treatment, if any abnormal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, or difficulty breathing occur, the use of the medication should be stopped immediately, and the patient should consult a doctor. Since the drug can affect liver and kidney function, regular monitoring is needed during long-term use, especially when administered for more than 14 days. Use is to be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should definitely consult a doctor before use. Children and the elderly may have different responses to the drug, so the appropriate dosage and administration method for their age should be followed. Interactions may occur if used in combination with other medications, so it is essential to inform the doctor of any other medications being taken. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, and seizures may occur, so strictly adhere to the prescribed dosage, and immediately inform medical personnel of any abnormal symptoms. The drug should be stored in a sealed container to avoid moisture and kept in a cool, dry place at or below 25 degrees Celsius. Before use, it is essential to check for any previous allergic reactions.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blistering, peeling skin, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress associated with cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), pronounced fatigue, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, vision disturbances, paralysis, urination changes.
Diarrhea, dyspepsia, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, constipation, colonic pain, hyperacidity, dry mouth, pseudomembranous colitis, candidiasis, blood in stool, elevated AST, ALT, ALP, LDH, serum bilirubin, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, itching, erythema multiforme, mucous membrane syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, vesicular exanthema, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, angioedema, serum sickness.
