Precautions

This medicine contains components belonging to the beta-lactam antibiotic class, including penicillin. This medicine should not be used in patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this component or beta-lactam antibiotics. Caution is especially needed in patients with a history of anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, or shock. Patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia may have an increased risk of rash and other side effects when using this medicine, so it should be avoided in such cases. Patients who have experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this medicine or penicillin-class drugs should avoid use due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with impaired liver function should be treated cautiously, as this medicine can worsen liver function. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment need dose adjustments due to the risk of prolonged drug retention and increased concentrations. Patients with a history of allergic reactions, bronchial asthma, skin rashes, hives, and other past incidents should be cautious when using this medicine. Patients with gastrointestinal conditions such as vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the medicine efficiently, so careful administration is essential. During the use of this medicine, if gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, or bloody stools occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. This is because serious colitis, such as membranous colitis, may develop. Prolonged use may require regular liver function tests as abnormal liver function tests and symptoms of jaundice may occur. Severe skin reactions such as rashes, itching, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, may occur due to allergic reactions; therefore, discontinue use immediately if any unusual signs appear. Blood tests may rarely show abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, or anemia, thus requiring blood tests during long-term use. Psychiatric symptoms like anxiety, confusion, and convulsions have been reported infrequently, particularly in patients with impaired kidney function or when administered in high doses. Regular kidney function tests are necessary for patients with kidney diseases, as this medicine may affect kidney function. This medicine may alter intestinal flora, potentially leading to oral thrush or candidiasis; consultation with a doctor is advised if symptoms appear. A tendency to bleed due to vitamin K deficiency may appear, so special caution is advised for elderly patients or those at risk of vitamin K deficiency. This medicine may interact with other drugs, especially anticoagulants, probenecid, allopurinol, and other antibiotics; consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary when combined with these medications. It is generally safe for pregnant women to avoid use of this medication during the first three months unless in special circumstances. Breastfeeding mothers should be cautioned as the drug's components can pass into breast milk, potentially causing symptoms like diarrhea or skin rash in the infant, and should discontinue use if such symptoms appear. Use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg due to limited experience. Elderly patients are at higher risk of adverse effects due to decreased kidney and liver function; therefore, careful dosing and intervals are advised.
