Summary
- Main use
- Nutritional improvement through supply of water, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories for premature infants.
- Who uses it
- Adults · Children
- Adult dosage
- The dosage depends on the patient's condition, caloric consumption, weight, age, metabolic capacity, and any additional calories or protein supplied orally or enterally. It should not exceed the maximum recommended dosage. The undiluted medication can only be administered via central venous access, while diluted sufficiently, peripheral venous infusion is possible. The infusion rate should be gradually increased for the first hour of administration and gradually decreased for the last hour before stopping.
- Children's dosage
- For premature infants, continuous intravenous administration over 24 hours is generally recommended. The same bag should not be infused for more than 24 hours. Circuit volume should be managed according to the patient's metabolic tolerance. This medicine is

Efficacy & effects
Nutritional improvement through supply of water, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories for premature infants.
View approved original textHide original text
This medicine helps maintain the necessary nutritional status by providing water, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories to premature infants who have difficulty with oral or enteral nutrition. It primarily provides essential nutrients for the growth and development of premature infants directly via the intravenous route, thereby preventing nutritional deficiencies. This supports the healthy growth of premature infants and reduces complications arising from nutritional imbalances.
Dosage and Administration
Adult dosage
The dosage depends on the patient's condition, caloric consumption, weight, age, metabolic capacity, and any additional calories or protein supplied orally or enterally. It should not exceed the maximum recommended dosage. The undiluted medication can only be administered via central venous access, while diluted sufficiently, peripheral venous infusion is possible. The infusion rate should be gradually increased for the first hour of administration and gradually decreased for the last hour before stopping.
Children's dosage
For premature infants, continuous intravenous administration over 24 hours is generally recommended. The same bag should not be infused for more than 24 hours. Circuit volume should be managed according to the patient's metabolic tolerance. This medicine is
Precautions
This medicine requires caution as it may increase free fatty acid levels in the blood when administered to premature and low-birth-weight infants. In particular, fatal side effects such as pulmonary vascular fat accumulation have been reported in premature infants with severe respiratory disease, so it should be avoided. This medicine should not be administered to patients with allergies to eggs, soybeans, peanuts, congenital amino acid metabolism disorders, abnormal serum electrolyte levels, patients using Ceftriaxone, or those with severe hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia. In patients with pulmonary edema, heart failure, renal failure, or severe liver failure, careful administration is needed, while closely monitoring fluid and electrolyte status. Patients with insufficient metabolic capacity or endocrine and metabolic disorders also require caution. During administration, there is a possibility of adverse reactions such as hypophosphatemia, hyperglycemia, hypercalcemia, hypertriglyceridemia, cholestasis, etc., thus regular testing and observation are necessary. Particularly, administering intravenously without adequate dilution can lead to severe side effects such as skin necrosis or soft tissue damage. If an allergic reaction occurs, administration should be immediately discontinued, and caution should be exercised as it contains corn-derived glucose, which may affect patients with corn allergies. Co-administration with Ceftriaxone in premature infants is prohibited due to the risk of pulmonary embolism; therefore, excessive addition of calcium and phosphate should be avoided. There is a risk of infection and sepsis during administration, so catheter management and aseptic techniques are important, and awareness of the possibility of metabolic complications such as fat overload syndrome and refeeding syndrome is also necessary. In case of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, electrolyte imbalances, fluid overload, and acidosis may occur; therefore, immediate cessation of administration and appropriate treatment are required. This medicine is recommended for administration via central venous access, and the solution's condition and the presence of any precipitates in the infusion set and catheter should be checked before administration. Due to insufficient safety data for pregnant and nursing women, it should be administered cautiously under the judgment of a physician when necessary. Additionally, some components of this medication may affect certain clinical test results, so it is better to adjust the timing of tests.
