Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Those who have previously experienced shock due to this medication should not take it. Individuals allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics should also avoid this drug. It should not be administered to patients with infectious mononucleosis. Additionally, as this medication contains lactose, those with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should refrain from using it. Certain patients require caution when using this medication. Special caution is required for those with a history of hypersensitivity; careful administration is warranted when use is unavoidable. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics should also be cautious. Family members with asthma or skin allergy symptoms should take care when taking this medication. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who cannot take oral medications, the elderly, and those in poor general condition should be monitored for signs of vitamin K deficiency. Individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or allergies to the yellow dye #5 included in this medication should also use it cautiously. This medication can cause various adverse reactions. Rarely, shock may occur; if any unusual symptoms appear, immediate discontinuation of treatment and appropriate management is required. If hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, or facial swelling occur, treatment should also be discontinued. Decreased blood cell counts, liver function abnormalities, and renal dysfunction can arise, so careful monitoring is necessary. Gastrointestinal issues such as pseudomembranous colitis, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting may occur; if symptoms are severe, immediate discontinuation is advised. If respiratory symptoms or pneumonia develop, appropriate treatment should be received. Central nervous system symptoms such as stomatitis, candidiasis, dizziness, drowsiness, and headaches have also been reported. Rarely, serious skin conditions like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome may occur, so monitoring skin condition is essential. Signs of bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or vitamin B complex deficiency may also manifest. Additionally, there may be various side effects such as genital itching and joint pain. When using this medication, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and to take the minimum necessary duration of treatment. Adequate history taking should be performed to prevent allergic reactions, and if adverse reactions occur, treatment should be immediately stopped, and appropriate measures taken. Regular monitoring of blood, kidney, and liver function should be conducted during prolonged use. The risk of renal dysfunction increases when this medication is taken with other drugs that affect the kidneys. Close monitoring of kidney function is especially important when used with nephrotoxic antibiotics or diuretics. Additionally, caution is needed as co-administration with certain medications can delay the excretion of this drug, leading to elevated blood concentration. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established; thus, it should only be used in pregnant women or those who may become pregnant when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Caution is also necessary when using this drug during lactation. Elderly patients may experience more adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions; thus, the risks of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency are increased, requiring careful observation and adjustment of dose and administration interval. This medication may affect some clinical test results, so it should be taken into consideration during testing. Rarely, photosensitivity reactions may occur, so avoiding sunlight exposure is necessary.
