Relief of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy, improvement of fibromyalgia
This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as an adjunct for patients with epilepsy experiencing partial seizures. Furthermore, it is effective in the treatment of fibromyalgia, which includes the treatment of neuropathic pain, epilepsy, and fibromyalgia.
This medication is taken orally regardless of food, divided into two doses per day. 1. Neuropathic pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Starting dose of 150 mg per day, may increase to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, and if necessary can be further increased up to a maximum of 600 mg per day at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Starting dose of 150 mg per day, increase to 300 mg per day after one week,
The safety and efficacy data for children under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12-17 years are insufficient, and administration is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so if there are any mood changes or abnormal behaviors during treatment, it should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. Pregabalin or any component of this medication should not be taken if there is an allergy. Patients with certain genetic disorders such as lactose intolerance should also avoid this medication. Diabetic patients may need to adjust their doses of blood sugar control medicines due to weight gain. If symptoms of angioedema occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Elderly patients should be cautious due to the risk of injury from dizziness or drowsiness and may experience vision changes such as blurred vision. Sudden discontinuation of this medication may result in withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, and anxiety, thus dosage adjustments should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Patients with a history of substance abuse are at a higher risk of misuse of this medication and should use it cautiously. Dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with impaired kidney function. Patients with heart disease should also use this medication cautiously. Caution should be taken when used with opioid analgesics as there is a risk of central nervous system depression. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should consult with a healthcare provider as it may affect the fetus. Nursing mothers should consider discontinuing breast-feeding or stopping the medication as it may be transmitted through breast milk. It is advisable to avoid operating vehicles or machinery until dizziness or drowsiness has resolved after taking this medication. Serious skin reactions may occur; if a rash or swelling appears, discontinue the medication and inform a healthcare provider immediately. Overdose may lead to confusion, drowsiness, depression, and seizures, requiring immediate emergency treatment. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container.
