Treatment of infections (respiratory, skin, and mycobacterial) and Helicobacter pylori eradication for duodenal ulcer
This medication is effective against a variety of bacteria and is used for lower and upper respiratory infections, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, pharyngitis, and sinusitis. It is also effective for treating infections of the skin and soft tissues. In particular, it improves infections caused by Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium intracellulare. Additionally, it aids in symptom relief by eliminating Helicobacter pylori in patients with duodenal ulcers. This medicine is used to broadly treat various bacterial diseases.
Adults Clarithromycin is usually administered at a dose of 250mg (potency) twice daily; for severe infections, administer 500mg (potency) twice daily. The usual duration of administration is 7~14 days. In patients with renal failure and a creatinine clearance of 30mL/min or less, the dose should be reduced by half: 250mg (potency) once daily, or, for severe infections, 250mg (potency) twice daily. Do not administer for more than 14 days to these patients. Mycobacterial infections Administer 500mg (potency) of this medicine twice daily. In this case, it should be administered in combination with other antimycobacterial agents such as ethambutol, clofazimine, and rifampin. Helicobacter pylori eradication in patients with duodenal ulcers For 14 days, administer 500mg (potency) of this medicine three times daily in combination with omeprazole 40mg once daily, followed by omeprazole 40mg once daily for 14 consecutive days. That is, administer clarithromycin 500mg (potency) three times daily for 14 days (days 1~14), and omeprazole 40mg once daily for 28 days (days 1~28). Children aged 12 years and older: Same as for adults.
For children under 12 years of age, use clarithromycin dry syrup.

Children, the elderly, and patients with weak kidney or liver functions may require dosage adjustments and should follow medical guidance. If this medication is used for a long period or repeatedly, resistant bacteria may develop, so it should only be used for the necessary duration, and treatment should be stopped when symptoms improve. If diarrhea, rash, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, or jaundice symptoms occur during use, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication may affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, so caution is advised if dizziness or confusion occurs after taking it. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal disturbances or central nervous system symptoms may arise, so the dosage must be strictly adhered to; contact a medical institution immediately in the event of an overdose.
