Summary

Main use
Prevention of thrombotic cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction, stroke, etc.)
Who takes it
Adults · Children
Adult dose
Do not use this product concomitantly with other ADP receptor inhibitors (ticlopidine, clopidogrel, prasugrel). ㆍAcute coronary syndrome: Administer a 180mg loading dose, followed by 90mg per dose twice daily. Treatment is recommended for 12 months unless discontinuation of this product is clinically necessary. Patients taking this product should also receive a maintenance dose of aspirin (75 - 150mg), unless specifically contraindicated. In patients with acute coronary syndrome who have an increased risk of bleeding and have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), monotherapy with this product (discontinuation of aspirin) may be considered after 3 months of concomitant treatment with this product and aspirin. (See section 3. Administer with caution to the following patients.) ㆍPatients with a history of myocardial infarction (occurring at least 1 year previously) who are at high risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events: Administer 60mg per dose twice daily. Patients taking this product should also receive a maintenance dose of aspirin (75 - 150mg), unless specifically contraindicated. - Patients who took 90mg of this product or another ADP receptor inhibitor (ticlopidine, clopidogrel, prasugrel) during the first year after myocardial infarction may continue treatment with 60mg of this product. - Treatment with this product may also be initiated in patients within 2 years after myocardial infarction or within 1 year after discontinuing a previous ADP receptor inhibitor (ticlopidine, clopidogrel, prasugrel). - The safety and efficacy of this product were evaluated at 3 years of follow-up. ㆍPatients with type 2 diabetes who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary artery disease: Administer 60mg per dose twice daily. Patients taking this product should also receive a maintenance dose of aspirin (75 - 150mg), unless specifically contraindicated. - Refer to the dosage and administration for patients with acute coronary syndrome. - Data on the safety and efficacy of this product for treatment lasting more than 3 years are limited. ㆍPatients with acute ischemic stroke or high-risk transient ischemic attack: Administer a 180mg loading dose, followed by 90mg per dose twice daily for 30 days. Patients taking this product should also receive a maintenance dose of aspirin (75 - 100mg), unless specifically contraindicated. An initial loading dose of aspirin (300-325mg) is recommended in patients with acute ischemic stroke or high-risk transient ischemic attack. Administration This product is administered orally and may be taken with or without food. ㆍFor patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets, crush this product into a fine powder, disperse it in half a glass of water, and drink the mixture immediately. Rinse the glass used with half a glass of water and drink again. This mixture may also be administered through a nasogastric tube (CH8 or larger); it is important to flush the nasogastric tube with water after administration. ㆍWhen switching from another antiplatelet agent to this product, start this product 24 hours after the last dose of the previous medication. ㆍIf a dose is missed, take only 1 tablet (the next scheduled dose) at the next scheduled dosing time. Patients with renal impairment No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with renal impairment. Patients with hepatic impairment No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with mild hepatic impairment. This product has not been studied in patients with severe hepatic impairment, and there is limited treatment experience in patients with moderate hepatic impairment.
Child dose
The safety and efficacy of this product in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established (see the 'Other' section).

This medication reduces the incidence of thrombotic cardiovascular events, namely death due to cardiovascular issues, myocardial infarction, and stroke, when used in conjunction with aspirin in adult patients. It is particularly effective in patients with acute coronary syndrome or those at high risk for thrombotic cardiovascular events, such as patients with a history of myocardial infarction more than one year ago. It is also used to reduce the incidence of myocardial infarction or stroke in patients with type 2 diabetes who have not experienced myocardial infarction or stroke but have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary artery disease. In patients with acute ischemic stroke or high-risk transient ischemic attack (TIA), it lowers the risk of stroke when used in combination with aspirin. Therefore, this medication helps prevent thrombosis and improve cardiovascular health in various high-risk groups.

Precautions

This medication is an antithrombotic agent that inhibits platelet aggregation in the blood to prevent thrombosis. However, due to the high risk of bleeding, it should not be used in patients with pathological active bleeding or a history of intracranial hemorrhage. Patients before surgery should discontinue this medication at least 5 days prior to the operation, and if any bleeding symptoms occur, they should consult a doctor immediately. Additionally, it should be avoided in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components, severe liver impairment, or when used in combination with certain strong medications. Patients at high risk of bleeding, those who have recently undergone surgery, patients with bradycardia symptoms, and those with respiratory distress should be carefully monitored, particularly patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as their respiratory distress may worsen. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a specialist as risks may be associated with this medication. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Although elderly patients do not require dosage adjustments, it is advised to undergo regular kidney function tests. In case of overdose, the risk of bleeding increases, and immediate medical attention is necessary, although there is no specific antidote. While taking this medication, careful observation for any unusual symptoms such as bleeding or respiratory distress is essential. Furthermore, this medication may interact with various other drugs, thus notifying a physician or pharmacist about any other medications being taken is crucial. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery due to the possibility of dizziness or confusion.
