Adult dose
This medication is orally administered, divided into two doses daily, regardless of food. For epilepsy: Initial dose is 150 mg per day, which can be increased to 300 mg per day after one week as needed.
Child dose

This medication helps alleviate peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy patients, regardless of secondary generalized symptoms. Additionally, it is effective in improving symptoms of fibromyalgia. It is used to relieve symptoms of various neuro-related disorders and enhance therapeutic efficacy.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is orally administered, divided into two doses daily, regardless of food. For neuropathic pain (peripheral and central): Starting dose is 150 mg per day, and may be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, with further increases up to a maximum of 600 mg per day at intervals of 7 days thereafter. For epilepsy: Initial dose is 150 mg per day, which can be increased to 300 mg per day after one week as needed.

Child dose

Administration is not recommended for children under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12 to 17 due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so if symptoms of depression or mood changes occur during treatment, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication should not take it. Diabetic patients should be cautious as weight gain may require adjustments to blood sugar control medications. If symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face or around the mouth, occur, the use of this medication should be discontinued immediately. Elderly patients may be at increased risk of falls due to dizziness or drowsiness, so special caution should be exercised, especially in the early stages of treatment. Transient visual disturbances or changes in vision may occur, and these symptoms may improve upon discontinuing the medication. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety, so it is advisable to taper off gradually. Patients with a history of substance abuse may be at higher risk of dependence on this medication, so caution is advised during use. Patients with impaired renal function may require adjustment of the medication dose. Patients with heart disease should be carefully monitored for potential cardiac issues, such as congestive heart failure, when using this medication. Concomitant use of this medication with opioid analgesics may increase central nervous system depressant effects, leading to risks of respiratory distress, so caution should be exercised. During early pregnancy, the risk of fetal abnormalities exists, so pregnant women should not take this medication, and women of childbearing age should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding women should consider discontinuing breastfeeding or stopping the medication, as it may be passed on through breast milk. Activities that may be dangerous, such as driving or operating machinery, should be avoided until dizziness or drowsiness has completely resolved after taking this medication.
