Precautions

This medication should not be mixed or administered simultaneously with solutions or drugs containing calcium. In particular, it should never be administered to newborns as it can form precipitates when mixed with calcium, posing a severe risk of adverse effects. It should not be given to patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or those allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins, or to specific local anesthetics. It is also contraindicated in premature infants and newborns with problems in bilirubin binding. This drug should be administered with caution in patients with a history of allergies or those with severe kidney disease, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. During administration, liver and kidney functions and blood conditions must be regularly monitored to detect adverse reactions early. This medication can cause side effects such as diarrhea, rashes, decreased blood cell counts, and elevated liver enzymes, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. If severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms occur, administration must be immediately stopped, and emergency treatment sought. This drug may interact with other medications, so caution is needed, especially with diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotics, and vitamin K antagonists. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the risks and benefits before using this medication. In children, especially newborns and premature infants, it should be avoided due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to decreased bodily functions, so care must be taken with dosage and administration intervals. While receiving this medication, care should be taken when driving or operating machinery to minimize the risk of accidents due to adverse effects such as dizziness. Calcium-containing solutions should not be mixed during administration, and the injection site should be thoroughly cleaned to prevent precipitation. Prepared solutions should be used as quickly as possible, and when stored, they should be used within the designated temperature and time for safety.
