Treatment of respiratory and genitourinary infections (e.g., gonorrhea), skin and soft tissue infections, and early Lyme disease
Cefuroxime is an antibiotic effective against various bacterial infections, used to treat upper respiratory infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis. It is also effective for lower respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. For urogenital infections, it is used to treat pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis, and is applicable to skin and soft tissue infections such as furunculosis, pyoderma, and impetigo. It is used for the treatment of acute gonococcal urethritis and gonococcal cervicitis caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae and is also useful in the early treatment of Lyme disease. Thus, cefuroxime helps in improving various bacterial infections.
