This medication is used in adults to relieve peripheral and central neuropathic pain, assist in the treatment of partial seizures in epilepsy, and improve symptoms of fibromyalgia.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered orally in divided doses, twice daily regardless of meals. 1. Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors; therefore, if symptoms of depression or mood changes occur during treatment, the patient should inform their healthcare provider immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to any component of this medication or with hereditary lactose intolerance should not take it. Diabetic patients should be careful as weight gain may necessitate adjustments to their blood glucose-regulating medications. If symptoms of angioedema occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and consultation with healthcare professionals is needed. In the elderly, there is a risk of falling due to dizziness or drowsiness, so special caution is required at the start of treatment. Blurred vision or changes in vision may occur, which can improve upon discontinuation of the medication. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication may result in withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety; therefore, it should be tapered gradually under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Patients with a history of substance abuse should exercise caution due to the potential for misuse of this medication. Patients with reduced kidney function may require dose adjustments. Patients with heart conditions should use this medication cautiously as symptoms of congestive heart failure may worsen during treatment. Taking this medication with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol may increase the risk of drowsiness or respiratory suppression. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should consult their healthcare provider before use due to the risk of fetal malformations in early pregnancy. Breastfeeding women are advised to either stop nursing or discontinue the medication as it may be passed into breast milk. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of accidents from dizziness and drowsiness. In case of overdose, confusion, drowsiness, or seizures may occur, and immediate emergency treatment is required. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container for safety.
