This medication is used to treat dermatophyte infections of the skin such as athlete's foot, ringworm, and tinea capitis in adults. It is also used for treating onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nails) and tinea capitis in children.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Administer a dose of 125 mg of terbinafine, twice a day or 250 mg once a day. The duration of treatment varies by condition: 1) Dermatophyte infections Athlete's foot (interdigital type, plantar type/mocha type): 2 to 6 weeks Tinea corporis: 2 to 4 weeks Tinea cruris (jock itch): 2 to 4 weeks 2) Onychomycosis Generally administered for 6 weeks to 3 months. Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with chronic liver disease or active liver disease. It is important to check for a history of liver disease before taking this medication. Regular liver function tests should be performed before and during treatment due to the risk of liver dysfunction. If liver function test values rise, the use of this medication should be stopped immediately. If symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine, or diarrhea occur during treatment, inform a doctor immediately. This medication can cause serious liver damage, such as liver failure, so it should be stopped immediately if any symptoms of liver damage occur. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication, those with liver disease, blood disorders, severe renal failure, breastfeeding women, and children under 2 years of age should not take it. Patients with lactose intolerance should avoid this medication due to the lactose component. Caution is advised for elderly patients, those with reduced kidney function, and low-weight children. This medication can rarely cause serious skin reactions, so discontinue if any rashes or unusual symptoms occur. Dizziness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. Since this medication may interact with other drugs, inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of taking this medication, and breastfeeding should be discontinued while taking it. Overdosage may cause headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness, requiring immediate medical attention. Store this medication out of the reach of children and avoid direct sunlight, keeping it at room temperature.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), tightness in the chest, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination

Mild side effects

Rash, skin itching, fever, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, musculoskeletal symptoms (arthralgia, myalgia), muscle pain, weakness, gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal distension, dyspepsia, diarrhea), discomfort in the stomach, thirst, glossitis, depression, anxiety, headache, taste disturbance, dizziness, drowsiness, sensory disturbances, sensory loss, reduced attention, insomnia, increased BUN, frequent urination, visual disturbances, tinnitus, increased total cholesterol levels in the blood, increased triglycerides
