Reduction of the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke, and improvement of hyperlipidemia
This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular surgery, and angina in adults with multiple risk factors for cardiovascular disease and patients with type 2 diabetes. It is also used as an adjunct to dietary measures in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, improving blood lipid levels by lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol while raising HDL cholesterol. It is especially effective in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia or high serum triglycerides. In pediatric patients with severe hypercholesterolemia, it contributes to reducing the risk of early cardiovascular disease. This medication is used to improve patients' health by managing heart disease and hyperlipidemia.
For hyperlipidemia, the recommended initial dose is 10 mg once daily, but for patients requiring a greater reduction in LDL cholesterol levels, it may be started at 20 mg or 40 mg once daily (in cases where a reduction of more than 45% in LDL cholesterol levels is required). Administer in a dose range of 10-80 mg once daily, adjusting dose according to treatment goals and response, and analyzing lipid levels within 2 to 4 weeks.
The recommended initial dose for pediatric patients (10 to 17 years) with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia is 10 mg per day, and the maximum recommended dose is 20 mg per day. Dosage can be adjusted according to treatment goals.
