Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients with an allergy to this medication or mercaptopurine, those with a history of rheumatoid arthritis treated with alkylating agents, and patients with serious liver, kidney, or bone marrow diseases should not use this medication. Additionally, patients with severe infectious diseases or pancreatitis, those with significantly low white blood cell counts, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should also refrain from taking this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic issues should be cautious. This medication should be administered with caution to patients with impaired bone marrow function, infections, bleeding tendencies, or weakened liver or kidney function, and dose adjustments may be necessary. Care is also required for patients with chickenpox or those taking certain medications. During treatment, the risk of infection may increase, and the risk of malignancies such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma and skin cancer may be heightened. Blood tests may show decreased white blood cells, platelets, or anemia, so regular blood tests and monitoring of the condition are essential. Gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and pancreatitis may occur, and in rare instances, severe skin reactions, liver function abnormalities, or pneumonia symptoms may arise. This medication may worsen adverse reactions with prolonged use, so regular blood and liver function tests must be conducted following the physician's instructions during the treatment period. Furthermore, if symptoms of infection or bleeding occur, consultation with a doctor should be sought immediately. This medication may interact with various drugs, so if other medications are being taken, the doctor or pharmacist must be informed, and adjustments may be necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this medication, and if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be discontinued. In the case of children and the elderly, careful monitoring of kidney and liver function is required, and dose adjustments may be necessary. In case of overdose, serious symptoms including bone marrow suppression, infections, or bleeding may be observed, necessitating an immediate visit to a medical institution and regular monitoring and appropriate treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored securely in its original container. Finally, this medication suppresses immune function, which may increase the risk of infections and tumor development, so it is crucial to follow the doctor's instructions diligently and undergo regular check-ups during treatment.
