Improvement of nutritional status through the supply of trace elements (zinc, copper, manganese, etc.)
This medication is used to improve nutritional status by supplementing trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and chromium needed during intravenous nutrition.
Use as directed by a physician, with adjustments made based on plasma trace element levels. For patients receiving metabolically stable non-oral nutrition, administer zinc 2.5-4 mg daily, copper 0.5-1.5 mg daily, manganese 0.15-0.8 mg daily, chromium 10-15 μg daily, and selenium 20-40 μg daily. For acute burn patients, administer 4.5-6 mg daily.
For children under 5 years old, administer zinc 100 μg per kg of body weight daily, copper 20 μg per kg of body weight daily, manganese 2-10 μg per kg of body weight daily, chromium 0.14-0.20 μg per kg of body weight daily, and selenium 3 μg per kg of body weight daily.
This medication contains benzyl alcohol and should not be administered to neonates or premature infants as it could cause fatal respiratory problems. When administering intravenously, do not inject directly without dilution, as this may cause phlebitis; always mix and administer by dilution. This medication is a hypotonic solution, so do not administer it alone; always use it mixed with other injection solutions. If any toxic symptoms appear from any component, treatment should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be followed. Aluminum contained in non-oral nutrition solutions can reach toxic levels in patients with impaired kidney function, especially in immature infants with immature kidneys, so caution is required. Although the amounts of zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, and selenium included in this medication are small, it is important to frequently monitor blood concentrations and adjust dosages according to the patient's condition. Patients with renal failure have difficulty excreting zinc, and zinc may accumulate in the body, so caution is necessary. Patients with biliary obstruction have difficulty excreting copper and manganese, posing a risk for accumulation of these trace elements in the body, thus requiring monitoring. Chromium is primarily excreted through the kidneys and should be administered only after confirming whether the diabetic patient is taking any antidiabetic medications. Selenium may be difficult to excrete in patients with kidney or gastrointestinal dysfunction, so dosage should be adjusted, and in transfusion patients, the effects from the transfusion must be considered. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been established, thus it should be administered only when the therapeutic benefits override the risks for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant. Excessive administration may lead to toxic symptoms from trace elements like zinc, copper, chromium, and selenium, and if symptoms appear, medical personnel should be notified immediately. This medication should not be used without a doctor's prescription, and when added to non-oral nutrition solutions, aseptic conditions must be maintained. Before administration, check for discoloration or any particulate matter in the solution and do not use it if any abnormalities are found. Store in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children. Do not transfer to other containers as this may alter the quality; always store in the original container.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to keep out air and moisture. It is recommended to maintain a storage temperature between 15°C and 30°C. Proper storage will help retain the effectiveness and safety of the medication.
