Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension who find it difficult to control blood pressure with monotherapy of telmisartan or amlodipine, allowing for more effective blood pressure control. This helps prevent complications related to hypertension and maintains health.
The recommended dose for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Individual component doses can be adjusted; however, if blood pressure is not controlled, switching to this medication may be considered. In cases of severe renal impairment, initiation with a lower dose is recommended, followed by gradual titration. For patients with liver impairment, the daily dose of telmisartan should not exceed 40 mg.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and its administration is not recommended.
This medication may seriously harm the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take it. This medication should not be administered to patients with specific conditions, such as liver impairment, severe hypotension, heart-related diseases, or severely decreased kidney function. Patients with primary aldosteronism or heart valve problems, liver impairment, etc., should be very cautious when using this medication, and dosage adjustments and monitoring of the condition are necessary. Common side effects of this medication may include dizziness, peripheral edema, and hypotension, and, rarely, severe allergic reactions or worsening of kidney function may occur. Do not initiate this medication during pregnancy, and if pregnancy is confirmed, discontinue use immediately and switch to alternative treatments. Since hypotension may occur, especially in patients who are dehydrated, it is necessary to check the condition before taking this medication and take appropriate measures if necessary. This medication may increase serum potassium levels; therefore, patients at risk of hyperkalemia should undergo regular blood tests. Patients with impaired kidney function should periodically monitor their kidney function and electrolyte levels while taking this medication. Patients with heart disease should be cautious as the risk of angina or myocardial infarction may increase while taking this medication. This medication may induce drowsiness or dizziness, so caution is necessary when driving or operating hazardous machinery. There may be interactions with other medications taken concurrently, so all medications being used should be disclosed to healthcare providers. Nursing mothers should refrain from taking this medication, and if necessary, consult with healthcare providers. Safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established in children, and usage is not recommended. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension, dizziness, and impaired heart function may occur; therefore, appropriate medical attention should be sought immediately.
