Precautions

This medication must not be mixed or administered concurrently with solutions containing calcium or other medications. Particularly in neonates, there is a risk of precipitation when calcium and this medication are combined, so it should not be administered. Patients allergic to this medication or with hypersensitivity to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics should not use it, and it should not be administered to premature infants and neonates with bilirubin binding impairment. Those with a history of drug allergies, individuals with severely impaired kidney function, elderly patients, and patients in poor general condition should use this medication with caution. This medication can cause various side effects primarily in blood, digestive system, skin, liver, and kidneys, so symptoms should be closely monitored during administration. If severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms occur, treatment should be immediately discontinued, and appropriate emergency measures should be taken. This medication should be used only for the necessary duration to prevent resistance; it is advisable to check for allergies before administration. During treatment, regular assessments of liver and kidney function and blood tests should be conducted. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so symptomatic treatment should be provided. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, as side effects like dizziness may occur. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before using this medication, as it may affect the fetus or neonate. It is safer not to administer this medication to children, particularly neonates and premature infants, as it may increase the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to decreased bodily functions, so administration should be done carefully regarding dosage and intervals. This medication can interact with other drugs, so caution is needed, especially when used with diuretics or aminoglycoside antibiotics that may affect the kidneys. When administering, do not inject simultaneously with calcium-containing solutions; ensure to separate the injection ports or thoroughly wash them before administration in sequence. Prepared solutions should be used as soon as possible, and it is advisable not to store them for excessive periods.
