This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener, which converts to phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used by patients with the hereditary condition known as phenylketonuria. The daily intake of aspartame should be limited to below the WHO recommended amount, and for a 60 kg adult, a maximum of 2.4g can be taken daily. This drug should not be used in patients who have previously experienced shock due to this medication. Additionally, since it contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication or with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins should avoid administration. Care should be taken when using this medication in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics or those with allergic conditions such as asthma, rashes, or hives. Patients with significantly impaired renal function may require dosage adjustments, as this drug is excreted through the kidneys. Care should also be taken in elderly patients and those in poor general condition, as well as in patients who have difficulty with oral intake. This medication can occasionally cause serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis, so if symptoms of discomfort, oral abnormalities, wheezing, dizziness, constipation, or sweating occur, administration should be stopped immediately. If hypersensitivity reactions such as rashes, hives, itching, fever, or joint pain occur, the medication should be discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Gastrointestinal side effects may rarely include pseudomembranous colitis or abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, so use should be discontinued at the onset of symptoms. Respiratory issues such as interstitial pneumonia or lung infiltration may occur, and if these symptoms arise, treatment should be stopped and appropriate care pursued. Hematologic abnormalities include eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia, so blood tests may be needed with prolonged use. Neurologic side effects may include cognitive impairment, behavioral changes, or seizures in cases of renal impairment, so caution is required. Severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, or DRESS syndrome can occur, so skin conditions should be closely monitored. Liver function tests may show elevated values, and renal function decline may manifest as hematuria or increased creatinine, so regular monitoring is essential. Rarely, dysbiosis such as stomatitis or candidiasis can occur. Bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency have also been reported, thus caution is needed. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing and use the minimum required duration of this medication. Before administering this medication, sufficient medical history and skin reaction tests are recommended to predict any risk of shock reactions. Dizziness can occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Blood tests should be conducted to check for neutropenia after taking this medication for more than 10 days. Patients with impaired renal function are at risk of seizures if dosage adjustments are not made, thus careful attention is necessary. If severe skin reactions are suspected, treatment should be stopped immediately, and alternative therapies should be considered. This medication may increase the risk of renal impairment when used with certain diuretics or aminoglycoside antibiotics, so careful administration is needed. Co-administration with probenecid may reduce the excretion of this medication, raising blood concentrations. Antacids or H2 antagonists may decrease the absorption of this medication, while taking it with pentagastrin or meals may increase absorption. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding while using this medication. Safety for newborns, premature infants, and infants under 2 months has not been established. Elderly patients should use this medication with caution, adjusting the dosage and administration intervals to account for decreased physiological functions and the risk of vitamin K deficiency leading to bleeding. This medication may cause false-positive results in urine glucose tests, so caution should be exercised during testing, and positive results may also appear in direct Coombs tests. After preparing it in suspension form, it should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 2 weeks, and it should be well shaken before administration.
