How to take

Adult dose

This medication is pregabalin and should be taken orally divided into two doses per day, regardless of food. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: Initial dose of 150 mg daily, can be increased to 300 mg/day after 3 to 7 days, and if needed, can be increased to a maximum of 600 mg at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Initial dose of 150 mg daily, can be increased to 300 mg/day after one week.

Child dose

Use is not recommended for children under 12 years and adolescents aged 12 to 17 due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors; therefore, you must inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience mood changes or depressive symptoms while taking this medication. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or those with certain genetic disorders such as lactose intolerance should not take it. Diabetic patients should be cautious as weight gain may require dosage adjustments of blood sugar control medications. If symptoms of angioedema occur, discontinue use immediately and consult your healthcare provider. Elderly patients may experience increased dizziness and drowsiness, increasing their risk of falls; hence, extra caution is advised especially during the initial dosing. There may be symptoms of blurred vision or eye abnormalities; consult your healthcare provider if such symptoms occur. Abruptly stopping this medication may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, nausea, and anxiety; therefore, consult your healthcare provider to gradually discontinue use. Patients with a history of substance abuse may have a higher risk of abuse with this medication and should be particularly cautious while taking it. Patients with heart disease or impaired kidney function should consult their healthcare provider before taking this medication as dosage adjustment may be needed. This medication can cause drowsiness and dizziness, so avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery until symptoms are established. In early pregnancy, there may be a risk of fetal malformation; thus, women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult before use. Lactating women should discuss with their healthcare provider whether to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication since it can be transmitted through breast milk. Overdose may present with drowsiness, confusion, depression, etc., and treatment such as dialysis may be needed if necessary. Keep this medication out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container. Severe skin reactions can occur rarely with this medication, so if you experience skin rashes, swelling, fever, or similar symptoms, discontinue use immediately and consult your healthcare provider.
