For optimal absorption, take after meals. Adults and children 12 years of age or older Most infections: 250mg per dose, 2 times daily. Severe lower respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, severe infections, or suspected infections caused by less susceptible organisms: 500mg per dose, 2 times daily. Urinary tract infections: 250mg per dose, 2 times daily. Uncomplicated gonorrhea: 1g as a single dose. Lyme disease: 500mg per dose, 2 times daily for 14 days (10~21 days). For the treatment of infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A beta-hemolytic), this medicine should be administered for 7~10 days. Patients with renal impairment Cefuroxime is primarily excreted by the kidneys. To compensate for delayed excretion in patients with significantly impaired renal function, reducing the dose of cefuroxime as follows is recommended. Creatinine clearance ≥ 30 mL/min/1.73m2, T1/2 (hours) 1.4 - 2.4: No dose adjustment necessary (standard dose: 125mg-500mg per dose, 2 times daily) Creatinine clearance 10 - 29 mL/min/1.73m2, T1/2 (hours) 4.6: Administer the standard single dose every 24 hours Creatinine clearance < 10 mL/min/1.73m2, T1/2 (hours) 16.8: Administer the standard single dose every 48 hours Patients on hemodialysis, T1/2 (hours) 2 - 4: Administer an additional standard single dose at the end of each dialysis session

Precautions

This medicine is a cephalosporin antibiotic and should never be administered to patients with known allergies to this class. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, those with allergic tendencies, patients with severely impaired renal function, and those who may have difficulty taking oral medications or are elderly. Mild side effects such as headache, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, and skin rash may occur during the course of treatment, and serious allergic reactions, hepatitis, renal function abnormalities, and severe skin disorders may occur infrequently, thus careful monitoring is necessary. When using antibiotics, it is important to check the susceptibility of the infectious bacteria to prevent the development of resistant strains, and to use the medication for the necessary duration only. This medication may cause dizziness, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Additionally, co-administration with other diuretics or certain antibiotics may impact renal function, so prudence is required in such cases. The use of this medicine in pregnant or breastfeeding women should be carefully determined, and caution is necessary as the drug may be passed to the baby during breastfeeding. Safety has not been established for infants under 3 months; for young children, it is recommended to use a dry syrup formulation due to the bitter taste. In the elderly, side effects may occur more readily due to decreased bodily functions, so dose adjustments and monitoring of conditions are necessary. This medicine may affect the results of certain clinical tests, so inform healthcare providers during testing. In cases of overdose, neurological anomalies such as seizures may occur, and immediate contact with a medical institution is required. Lastly, this medicine should be stored out of reach of children and sealed well in its original container.
