Treatment efficacy for recurrent (acute otitis media, acute sinusitis)
This medication is effective against major bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. It is particularly used for treating recurrent or persistent symptoms of acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in children. The target population includes children under 2 years old or children attending daycare institutions who have received antibiotics for acute otitis media or acute sinusitis within the past 3 months. This drug helps improve related infections and aids in the prevention of complications. Therefore, it is used in the treatment of acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in pediatric patients.
For pediatric patients over 3 months: Based on an amoxicillin content of 600 mg/5 mL, take 90 mg/kg/day divided into doses every 12 hours. For acute otitis media, administer for 10 days; for acute sinusitis, administer for 7 days.
This medication contains artificial sweetener aspartame, and patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should not take it. Patients with allergies to any ingredient of this medication or beta-lactam antibiotics should not use it. In particular, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at a high risk of developing rashes, so caution is advised. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders or those accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea should take this medication carefully as it may not be properly absorbed. Various side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, skin rash, liver function abnormalities, and blood abnormalities may occur during this treatment, and if any unusual symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a physician is advised. Particularly, liver dysfunction appears more frequently with long-term use, so it is safest not to administer it for more than 14 days. Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis can occur rarely, so patients should be closely monitored after administration. If diarrhea worsens or abdominal pain occurs during antibiotic use, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis may exist, so it is critical to stop the medication immediately and inform a physician.
