Treatment effect for recurrent (acute otitis media, acute sinusitis)
This medication is primarily used to treat recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in pediatric patients. It is especially suitable for children under 2 years of age who have received antibiotics in the last 3 months or attend daycare. It is effective against major bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae (including beta-lactamase-producing strains), and Moraxella catarrhalis (including beta-lactamase-producing strains). Therefore, it helps to effectively treat recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis.
For pediatric patients over 3 months: Based on the amoxicillin content (600 mg/5 mL), the dosage is 90 mg/kg/day divided into 12-hour intervals. Acute otitis media should be treated for 10 days, acute sinusitis for 7 days.
This drug contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and should not be administered to patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. Use should be limited to the recommended daily allowance of aspartame by the WHO, which is a maximum of 2.4g per day for an adult weighing 60kg. Patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to any of the components of this medication or to beta-lactam antibiotics should not use it. In particular, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia have a higher risk of side effects such as rashes when taking this medication and should avoid it. Additionally, patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice may experience a recurrence of symptoms. This medication contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance or galactose intolerance. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should use this medication cautiously, and especially in cases where kidney function is moderately or severely impaired, the dosing interval should be adjusted. Patients with allergic constitutions, elderly individuals, and patients in poor general condition should also exercise caution. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or those experiencing vomiting or diarrhea may have reduced absorption of the medication. Although this medication generally has good tolerability, side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, skin rashes, contact dermatitis may occur, and in severe cases, administration should be discontinued. Gastrointestinal adverse reactions may be alleviated by taking the drug with meals. Rarely, abnormal liver function may occur, particularly in the elderly and males, and the risk increases with long-term use. Severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis may occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored after administration. Rare cases of blood and lymphatic system abnormalities, kidney dysfunction, and central nervous system symptoms have also been reported. This medication should be used only for the minimum duration necessary to prevent the development of resistant bacteria, and it is not effective against viral infections, so unnecessary use should be avoided. Shake well before use, refrigerate after preparation, and complete within 7 days. There may be interactions with other medications, so if taking other drugs, it is essential to inform the physician or pharmacist. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication when necessary, and especially avoid it during the first trimester of pregnancy. During breastfeeding, if symptoms such as diarrhea or hypersensitivity in the infant occur, administration should be discontinued. It is not used in infants under 3 months of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, symptoms such as gastrointestinal disturbances, electrolyte imbalances, kidney damage, and seizures may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought. Store this medication out of the reach of children and in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius. After preparation, it must be refrigerated.
