Hufiroxime Tablet (Cefuroxime Axetil)

Adult dose

For optimal absorption, take after meals. Adults and children aged 12 years and older Most infections: 250mg twice daily. Severe lower respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, severe infections, or suspected infections caused by less susceptible organisms: 500mg twice daily. Urinary tract infections: 250mg twice daily. Uncomplicated gonorrhea: Administer 1g as a single dose. Lyme disease: 500mg twice daily for 14 days (10~21 days). For the treatment of infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (group A beta-hemolytic), this medicine should be administered for 7~10 days. Patients with renal impairment Creatinine clearance ≥ 30 mL/min/1.73m2, T1/2 1.4 - 2.4 hours: No dose adjustment required (standard dose: 125mg-500mg twice daily) Creatinine clearance 10 - 29 mL/min/1.73m2, T1/2 4.6 hours: Administer a standard single dose every 24 hours Creatinine clearance < 10 mL/min/1.73m2, T1/2 16.8 hours: Administer a standard single dose every 48 hours Patients on hemodialysis, T1/2 2 - 4 hours: Administer an additional standard single dose at the end of each dialysis session

Child dose

Infants and children younger than 12 years, most infections: 125mg twice daily. Children aged 2 years or older, otitis media or severe infections: 250mg twice daily. Infants and children younger than 12 years, Lyme disease: 250mg twice daily for 14 days (10~21 days). There is limited experience with use in infants younger than 3 months. This medicine must not be divided and is therefore not suitable for treating patients who cannot swallow tablets, such as young children.

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics, those with bronchial asthma or a history of skin allergies, patients with severe renal impairment, those who have difficulty swallowing orally, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition should be administered this drug with caution. Mild adverse reactions may commonly occur during the use of this medication, and severe allergic reactions such as rash, urticaria, itching, fever, serum sickness, or anaphylaxis may occur rarely, so patients should notify medical personnel immediately if symptoms appear. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain are also frequently seen and should be monitored. Rarely, hepatic dysfunction, renal dysfunction, pseudomembranous colitis, and severe skin reactions can occur, necessitating regular observation and testing. This drug should only be used for the minimum period required after confirming the sensitivity of the infecting bacteria to prevent drug resistance, and administration should be stopped immediately if symptoms such as discomfort, urticaria, or dizziness occur during treatment. Use of this antibiotic may result in an overgrowth of Candida or other non-susceptible bacteria, so if such symptoms occur, treatment should be stopped and medical consultation should be sought. Dizziness may occur during driving or operating machinery, so caution is required. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should be cautious as the drug may be passed into breast milk. Safety has not been established for infants under 3 months of age, and for children, it is recommended to use a dry syrup formulation as breaking the tablets may lead to a very bitter taste. Elderly patients may experience more easily apparent adverse reactions due to decreased physical function, so dose adjustments and monitoring of their condition is necessary. This medication may affect certain clinical test results, so it is important to inform medical personnel about its use when undergoing tests. In cases of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities such as seizures may occur, so immediate medical attention is required, and blood dialysis or peritoneal dialysis may be used to lower drug concentration. Keep this medication out of reach of children and store it sealed in its original container.
