Precautions

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections. However, this medication can cause severe side effects such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system abnormalities, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis, so caution is needed. Especially in patients with myasthenia gravis, symptoms may worsen, and this medication should not be used. Also, it should be used restrictively only when there are no other treatment options for specific infections such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. There is a risk of tendon rupture, such as in the shoulder, hand, and Achilles tendon, and the risk is higher in the elderly, patients with renal impairment, those receiving high doses, and patients on corticosteroid therapy, so concomitant use should be avoided. This medication can induce seizures, so it should be used with caution in patients with epilepsy or central nervous system disorders, and should be stopped immediately if seizure symptoms occur. Severe allergic reactions or skin reactions may occur due to hypersensitivity, so treatment should be stopped immediately if symptoms such as rash or difficulty breathing appear. This medication can cause adverse reactions in various organs including the liver, kidneys, blood, digestive system, skin, and musculoskeletal system, so consultation with healthcare professionals is needed if symptoms arise. Especially in the elderly and patients with impaired renal function, dose adjustment is necessary, and use should be immediately stopped if signs of hepatic toxicity occur. This medication should not be used in pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, breastfeeding mothers, or adolescents under the age of 18 during the growth period. This medication can interact with other drugs, so caution is needed when taken with antacids, iron supplements, calcium, hypoglycemic agents, anticoagulants, etc. During administration, avoid exposure to strong sunlight or artificial ultraviolet light, and if photosensitivity reactions occur, discontinue use immediately. Care should be taken when driving or operating machinery, as symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and cardiac abnormalities may occur, so immediate medical attention is necessary.
