Treatment of community-acquired pneumonia and complicated urinary tract infections
This medication is effective against various bacteria and is used to treat community-acquired pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections including acute pyelonephritis, and complex skin and soft tissue infections. It is also applicable to acute bacterial exacerbations of acute sinusitis and chronic bronchitis. However, this drug is to be used only when other treatment options are not feasible due to the risk of serious adverse reactions. It is effective against multiple strains and helps in the treatment of various infections such as pneumonia and pyelonephritis. The dosage will be adjusted appropriately for safe use according to the patient's condition.
Administered as a slow intravenous infusion once or twice daily. The dosage will be determined based on the type of infection, the degree of infection, and the sensitivity of the suspected causative bacteria. Generally, after initial intravenous administration for several days, if the patient's condition allows, a switch to oral administration may be made, with the oral dosage being the same as the intravenous dosage. The administration method requires at least 60 minutes for intravenous infusion, and treatment can continue for a maximum of 14 days.
This drug is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat specific bacterial infections. When using this drug, caution is necessary as severe adverse effects such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system abnormalities, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis may occur. Particularly, patients with severe myasthenia gravis should not use this drug as it may worsen their symptoms. This drug should only be used for limited indications such as acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media when other treatment options are unavailable. When administered intravenously, 500mg should be slowly infused over at least 60 minutes, and if there is a rapid drop in blood pressure during infusion, administration should be stopped immediately. Patients receiving this drug should stop using it and rest if symptoms of tendonitis or tendon rupture occur, and concurrent use with corticosteroids should be avoided. As allergic reactions may occur, if symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing arise, use should be stopped immediately. Gastrointestinal side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and, rarely, pseudomembranous colitis can occur, so if diarrhea becomes severe, consult a doctor. Central nervous system side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, seizures, and hallucinations, so if abnormal symptoms occur, inform immediately. Cardiac-related side effects such as tachycardia, hypotension, and ECG abnormalities have been reported, so patients with heart conditions should exercise caution. This medication may affect blood sugar control, so diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels closely. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, individuals younger than 18 years, patients with epilepsy, and those with a history of hypersensitivity to this or similar medications should not use this product. Elderly patients may experience increased drug concentrations due to reduced renal function, so dosage adjustments and monitoring of side effects are necessary. There may be interactions with other medications; therefore, especially if taking anticoagulants, diabetes medications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or theophylline, inform a doctor immediately. During treatment with this medication, avoid strong sunlight or UV exposure, and be cautious of dizziness or drowsiness while driving or operating machinery. In cases of overdose, symptoms affecting the central nervous system and heart may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. Blood dialysis will not remove this drug.
