Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug or its ingredients. Additionally, it may pose risks in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation, thus caution is advised. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic disorders that prevent lactose digestion should not take it. While taking this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur; therefore, if symptoms like hypotension, difficulty breathing, or hives develop, administration should be immediately discontinued and medical consultation sought. It may affect liver function, leading to elevated liver enzymes or jaundice symptoms; hence, monitoring of liver health is necessary. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and increased salivation. Central nervous system symptoms may manifest as headaches, agitation, sleep disturbances, and dizziness. Gynecomastia symptoms or elevated prolactin levels may occur; if abnormal symptoms appear, administration should be stopped. Blood tests may reveal decreased platelet or white blood cell counts, so regular blood monitoring is essential, and discontinuation is required if abnormalities are found. It may also affect kidney function, leading to elevated BUN and creatinine levels, necessitating caution. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes, itching, and redness may occur; if such symptoms appear, discontinue the medication and seek appropriate care. Extrapyramidal symptoms may also develop, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, administration should be discontinued. Chest or back pain and fatigue may also occur; these symptoms should be closely monitored. This medication enhances the action of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, so use it with consideration of this. If gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve, it is advisable not to use for prolonged periods. Taking this medication alongside anticholinergics may reduce its efficacy, so caution regarding the timing of administration between the two medications is advised. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. During breastfeeding, as this medication may be excreted in breast milk, it should be avoided if possible, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if it must be taken. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established, so caution is warranted in its use. Elderly patients may have diminished bodily functions, making adverse reactions more likely; thus, their condition should be closely monitored, and dosage adjustment or temporary discontinuation may be necessary.
