This medication should be used with caution in individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic drinks per day, as it increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, and consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. This medication may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects such as thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and stroke. These risks may increase with longer duration and higher dosages, so the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration should be used. Gastrointestinal side effects may include upper and lower gastrointestinal perforation, ulcers, and bleeding, especially in elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases. If symptoms like epigastric pain, dyspepsia, black stools, or hematemesis occur, immediate medical attention is required. This medication should not be administered to patients with a history of certain allergies or severe liver or kidney impairment, active peptic ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, etc. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, asthma, hypertension, edema, those on diuretics or ACE inhibitors, and the elderly should use this medication cautiously and require regular monitoring of their condition. This medication may cause various adverse reactions, with common side effects including dyspepsia, diarrhea, sinusitis, upper respiratory infection, urinary tract infection, pharyngitis, rhinitis, insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, muscle tension, drowsiness, blurred vision, tinnitus, palpitations, flushing, cough, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, gastric ulcers, dental problems, duodenal ulcers, elevated liver enzymes, itching, rash, petechiae, angioedema, hair loss, blistering dermatitis, peripheral edema, facial swelling, influenza-like illness, damage, headaches, leg cramps. During the course of treatment, regular monitoring of blood pressure, liver function, kidney function, and blood tests is recommended to detect any abnormalities, and dosage adjustment or cessation should be done if necessary. This medication is metabolized by specific enzymes (CYP 2C9) in the liver, so caution is advised when taken with drugs that inhibit or induce these enzymes, as blood concentration changes may occur. Additionally, interactions might arise when taken with aspirin, anticoagulants, diuretics, antihypertensives, lithium, methotrexate, etc., so all medications being taken should be disclosed to healthcare providers. It is advisable that women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and nursing mothers, refrain from using this medication as it may pose risks to the fetus or newborn. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established, so it should not be used in these populations. Elderly patients have a higher likelihood of decreased kidney, liver, and heart function, which may increase the risk of side effects when taking this medication, necessitating special monitoring.
