Precautions

This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener that is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used by patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. The maximum daily allowance for aspartame is set at 40mg per kg of body weight, so for a 60kg adult, care must be taken to ensure the daily dose does not exceed 2.4g. It should not be administered to patients with a history of shock from this medication, or to those with genetic problems such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with allergies to the ingredients or similar antibiotics, those who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin antibiotics, and individuals with allergic conditions should use this medication cautiously. Patients with severely decreased kidney function or those unable to take medications orally, elderly patients, and those with poor overall health should be closely monitored as they may develop symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. This medication can rarely cause serious allergic reactions such as shock and anaphylaxis, so it should be discontinued immediately if any unusual symptoms arise. Additionally, it may cause hypersensitivity reactions such as rashes, hives, and itching, as well as gastrointestinal disturbances, interstitial pneumonia, blood abnormalities, central nervous system effects, and severe skin diseases, so caution is required. Long-term administration may lead to the development of resistant bacteria, so sensitivity testing should be performed and the medication should be used only for the necessary duration, and patients should be cautious of dizziness that may occur during treatment, particularly when driving or operating machinery. Dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with impaired kidney function, and if seizures occur, administration should be stopped and appropriate treatment should be provided. Careful management is necessary when using this medication in conjunction with other drugs, especially diuretics or certain antibiotics, as it may affect kidney function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when its safety has not been established. Nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding while using this medication. The safety of this medication in children, particularly infants under 2 months, newborns, and premature infants, has not been fully established, so caution is advised when using it in these populations. Elderly patients may be at increased risk for adverse reactions due to declining body function, so careful adjustments of dosage and intervals should be made while monitoring. This medication may affect certain clinical test results, so it is important to inform healthcare providers about its use prior to testing. For syrup forms, keep refrigerated after preparation and use within 2 weeks, and shake well before administration to ensure uniform distribution.
